Food was good.
I liked their nasi goreng ayam and found portions to be very generous, however there was not enough chicken in the rice (had to look for pieces of it), more rice than anything else. It was tasty and I could tell it was made fresh.
The chicken satay was very good but not consistent since some skewers were tiny and others, a good size. The peanut sauce was great.
The roti canai was OK. Tasted like the frozen one but I liked the sauce that came with it.
I'd come back to try more as there's not many Indonesian restaurants around the GTA. They also sell imported snacks and drinks from Indonesia.
Truly an authentic taste of Indonesia! When I miss home this will be my go to. Personal faves are the Tahu isi (stuffed tofu) and sate or both the chicken and beef variety. If you have the chance order the Martabak Manis a day in advance!
A hidden gem indeed! It was our first time having authentic Indonesian food and it certainly impressed us. Ordered the Mi Goreng & Beef Rendang after asking the owner what they recommended.
The Mi Goreng was HUGE and so savoury! Def the star of the show. The Beef Rendang was also good and unique (felt like a cross between a spicy yet light curry and a Korean Galbijim - soy sauce braised beef rib). The side jalapeños and kale (?) were very unique! If I had to nit, I wish the garlic rice had a little more flavour.
We dined in for lunch - they have 2 small tables and they served us quick. Not the most aesthetic place but sometimes the “hole in the wall” experience adds to the authentic experience!
Overall, for the price point, flavour, authenticity, and portion sizes I’d recommend checking this spot out!
